Choosing Louver Size On Window Shutters

If you have decided to go with Los Altos, CA window shutters for your home, it’s a very important decision that you’ll be happy with for many years. But there are still other decisions to make. You’ll have to size the window shutters and, of course, choose a color. But what about the louver size? Does it really matter? Of course it does.

The louver size affects your view and your level of privacy as well as the amount of light you will allow into your home. The size can also have a big impact on the look and style of the shutter and that leads to how your home appears.

The biggest distinction between louver size is probably how the size affects your view as you look out over the Los Altos scenery. When you have the louvers tilted so you can see out, you can see more when the louvers are large. That is because there are fewer louvers to block the view.

2 ½ inch louvers are often the right choice when you have a smaller window. Larger louvers work better on larger windows and smaller on smaller. Large louvers can dominate small windows and take over so it’s best to stick with something smaller if the window is on the small side. If you have a limited window depth, smaller louvers are better as well. You don’t want the louvers hitting the window, so you should restrict their size based on space as well.

3 ½ inch louvers are great if you have medium or large windows. They are the most popular size and provide a contemporary, clean look. If there are wider panels, this size works well too, and you will get a less obstructed view with a cleaner, more finished look.

4 ½ inch louvers give you the least obstructed view when they are tilted open and they work well in medium to large windows. If you have a great view, this is the best option. You can also get the most natural light in so if that’s important, this is the right option.
